BATAVIA RADIO CONTROL FLYING CLUB FIELD RULES
1. THIS SITE IS AN ACTIVE FAA REGISTERED AIRPORT
a. All full-scale airplanes have the highest priority of the runway and surrounding airspace
b. All RC aircraft must yield to any full-scale aircraft in the air or on the ground
2. Hours of Operation are from 10:00 AM until dusk
3. All Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Rules and Regulations govern this site
4. Flying alone is “AT YOUR OWN RISK”. When flying alone it remains your responsibility to see and avoid full scale aircraft.
5. Current AMA Membership is mandatory to pilot a Radio-Controlled Aircraft
6. Guests are welcome but must be accompanied by a Batavia RC Flying Club Member. Any flying guest MUST be a AMA member unless they are flying under the supervision of another member and are on a buddy box system.
7. Radio Transmitters:
a. All pilots must maintain strict control of their transmitters at all times when operating on 27 MHz, 50 MHz, 53 MHz, and 72 MHz, only one transmitter/frequency can be operated at any one time. Operating in these old bands requires you to make sure you are not interfering with anyone else. This is YOUR responsibility
b. Pilots operating on 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum R/C Systems do not require frequency management to prevent interference between users.
8. Control of your aircraft must be maintained at all times:
a. All models will be retained by some piece of safety equipment when the engine is running in the pit area.
b. Constant visual contact with the model aircraft must be maintained, no flying beyond visual range.
c. Intentional flying over the pit area is prohibited
d. NO flying over any buildings or structures.
e. If someone is retrieving a downed plane from the runway or the field no overflights of those individuals are permitted.
9. Only AMA Certified pilots of Turbine Propulsion Aircraft will be permitted. The individual must have on them the AMA Turbine Waiver.
10. All Aircraft heavier than 55 pounds must flown with an AMA waiver. The individual must have on them the AMA Waiver.
11. All pilots are required to fly their aircraft from the individual flying stations
a. At times of busy field attendance and flying using a spotter is recommended.
12. All spectators are required to stay in back of the pit area
a. Unattended children are not allowed on the flight line or in the pit area
13. Everyone must police their area. We are all guests at the flying site and it is our responsibility to clean up our messes, make sure the property is kept safe and anything else to help keep our flying site.
14. If retrieving a downed plane from the field with high crops or the woods leave a note with your name and phone number at the pavilion.
15. NO PETS allowed at the flying site.
16. There are no cars/trucks allowed on the runway and absolutely no motorized vehicles allowed on the field or surrounding areas. A lawnmower with attached wagon is allowed on the runway only to help in the retrieval of downed aircraft.
17. Driveway Use
a. Speed limit is 5MPH
b. Use the driveway that curves around to the front. In front of the quince tree.
c. Be alert and yield to traffic. Avoid driving through the grass on the front lawn.
18. Do not climb trees for any reason.
